Prof. Barbara Sgorbini

Barbara Sgorbini is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology at the Department of Drug Science and Technology of the University of Turin. Her research activity is mainly focused on biologically active secondary (specialized) metabolites of plant origin of interest for food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The main research topics concern: the characterization of the composition of the plant volatile fraction by solvent-free headspace sampling techniques in combination with GC-MS analyses; the characterization of the composition of essential oils by GC-MS; the evaluation of the potential inhibitory activity of essential oils or enriched fractions or isolated compounds by in vitro enzyme inhibition assays.
Prof. Sgorbini is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Essential Oil Research.
