Prof. Jean-Hugues Renault
University of Reims, France
Jean-Hugues Renault has been a full Professor of Pharmacognosy since 2012 and is currently the Director of the Institute of Molecular Chemistry of Reims (ICMR—UMR CNRS 7312). He also co-leads a research federation project designed to integrate the bioeconomy research efforts of more than 30 laboratories in the Grand Est region of France. Previously, he directed the "Biology, Health, and Associated Technologies" research department at the University of Reims, where he managed 11 laboratories and 350 researchers.
His research, supported by prominent academic and industrial partners, concentrates on Natural Product Chemistry, bridging the gap between fundamental and applied sciences. He specializes in centrifugal partition chromatography, including method development, modeling of transfer phenomena, process intensification, and scalability, while integrating the aspects of sustainable and biobased chemistry. He has also made recent contributions to cheminformatics, where he has developed tools for NMR/MS-based dereplication, open natural product databases, and high-throughput inverse docking.
Since 1998, he has supervised 27 PhD students and teaches courses in Natural Product Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Process Engineering.
